Frequently Asked Questions
We strive to

simple fashion, however for those who are not familiar with
Web protocol or how we do business, we offer the
following. If you have additional questions, please
don't hesitate to contact us via our contact us link above.
The Web Process
Questions and Answers pertaining to the Web hosting and
design process:
| Why do you insist on PayPal for your subscription payments? |
|
N.E.W.D. not only provides a convenient method of affordable payment for your web project, but we also (if you take the time to add up our fees) provide these services at a very affordable price. We can offer these great rates because we keep our business costs down, and PayPal is one of the ways we do this. PayPal offers us a NO OUT OF POCKET method of collecting monthly payments (subscriptions) and offers YOU state of the art, secure and convenient payment processing. You just can't beat that, and thus, this is who we use. For those of you who do NOT wish to use PayPal (very few people feel this way) you may choose to pay for your services all up front (no monthly payments) and STILL take advantage of our great prices.

| How does the Web work? |
| The Web is nothing more
than a (very large) collection of documents in a
format viewable by Web browsers, which sit on
computers that are wired to the global network known
as the Internet, 24 hours a day, seven days a
week. When you view a Web page, you are viewing
one of these documents at a predesignated
"address" or location known as a URL
(Universal Resource Locator).
A Web sites address is really a
series of numbers separated by dots (called a Domain
Name), and example of which would look like 125.215.95.52,
but because remembering such cryptic addresses would
not be very user friendly, there is the
Domain Name Registry.
Through the Domain
Name Registry, your Web space will be
addressable using a human readable "domain
name", which takes the form of www.yourname.com
and points to your IP address. Since there are
countless millions of domain names already in use, the
trick remains in finding an available domain name that
is worthy of your use. Once we find one, we will
register it for you at a registrar to keep the
record maintained in the registry, which is
essentially a global database of domains and their corresponding
IP address.
When someone clicks on a link in a
browser, their computer makes TWO connections to the
Internet. The first connection is with the users
DNS server as it looks up the target Web address's IP
address in the Domain Name Database, and THEN after
the browser has determined the IP address... it makes
the final connection to the destination Web site. |

| Do you need a special
server for dedicated, domain name formatted email? |
| Yes indeed. A
"server" is really nothing more than a
program (software) that runs on a computer that is set
up to run it. A server (in the Web site sense) is then really a SET OF (software)
servers (one for Web, one for FTP, one for Email, etc)
that are configured to work under a single
system. N.E.W.D. clients enjoy the best of all
worlds. We offer Web Mail AND POP3/SMTP (for
Outlook Express and similar Email Client software)
services. But we don't stop there.
We can set you up with bullet proof Anti-Spam
technology, Auto Responders, as many real email
accounts and forwarders as your resources permit,
email filters, and basically.... a high end,
fully loaded Email Server system suitable for
business.
And email from your own domain looks
professional. If you choose skymonksystems.com
as your domain name, then you can have as many name@skymonksystems.com
addresses as you'd need.
There are two different types of
email addresses you can have. An Account
(web Mail / pop3) or a forwarder.
A true email account is one that
utilizes our email server services. Email lives on the server until
you delete it, the methods of which differ by access
(Web Mail or POP3).
A Forwarder simply sends whatever
email is sent to it, to a predesignated address
somewhere else. ANY address on the internet can
be set as the forwarding address. For
example, if you have a Yahoo address that you are
comfortable with using, you may have info@, sales@,
marketing@, and JohnSmith@yourdomain.com
all pointed to your Yahoo address. What most
users do is set up a single email account per user and
then forwarders for everything else which forward to
one of the real email accounts. This saves
the end user from having to check more than one
account. |

| What is FTP and do
N.E.W.D. accounts come with it? |
| FTP stands for File
Transfer Protocol and is one
method of uploading (and downloading) files from a
server. In fact, while you don't need FTP to
download files from the Web (you can do this with
standard Web link services), FTP is the standard for
UPLOADING files to the server and is what is used in
most cases to upload Web site files to Web accounts
for publishing. As a N.E.W.D. client, your account
includes as many FTP accounts as you would
need. Surely, most of our clients have US
build, publish and maintain their sites for them, but
some businesses might need an FTP account to transfer
files between locations... or to / from their client
base. Clients may request FTP accounts under
their domain with the only restriction of use being
legality. ALL files housed on our server, if
even for a brief time, MUST be legal to post (no
copyrighted MP3, Software or Images). |

| What's all this about
SPAM and is this something I have to worry about? |
| SPAM,
or unsolicited commercial email, is something
that we ALL have to worry about. In OUR case, we
have to worry about it in two directions.... GETTING
and SENDING.
Regarding GETTING
SPAM, N.E.W.D. offers a number of methods to eliminate
and control incoming commercial emails. Either
by themselves, or in conjunction with filters in email
software there are many effective ways to control the
receipt of SPAM email.
Regarding the SENDING
of SPAM. N.E.W.D. takes a "shoot
first, ask questions later" stance on those we
find SENDING SPAM. There are RIGHT ways and
WRONG ways to advertise on line, and sending out
blanket advertisements to peoples Inboxes is
absolutely and without a doubt the WRONG
way! But without engaging in THAT debate,
here is why WE don't allow it.
There are commercial
spam fighting organizations on line that supply lists
of "spammers" to large hosts and ISP's
(Internet Service Providers). These providers
then use the IP addresses ON this blacklist to block all
emails coming from the offending server and this is a
VERY big problem for the other users of a
system. AOL, MSN/HOTMAIL are notorious for this
practice and we can NOT permit our systems to become
blacklisted by others on line. Simply NOT
acceptable business.
As such, accounts
which are found to be associated with SPAM
marketing practices will be immediately terminated
without refund, as per our Terms Of Use and
Acceptable Use Agreement. |
